History Of Tasmanian Pony & Riding Club

T.P.R.C. was established in 1952 and is a foundation member of the Pony Club Association of Tasmania. Our club, has a proud tradition of providing our members with excellent instruction, horsemanship skills and varied activities which contribute towards making their experience of horse riding as safe and enjoyable as possible.

T.P.R.C. strives to achieve the aims of the Pony Club movement which is to encourage young people to ride and to learn all kinds of sport concerned with horses and riding.  To provide instruction in riding and horsemastership and to instil in members the proper care of their animals. To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self-discipline in an environment free from harassment and discrimination. The Club caters for riders from 6 to 25 years of age. Young riders should be able to independently control their pony at a walk and trot.

T.P.R.C. rallies are conducted at a variety of wonderful properties belonging to Club members, which offers a unique opportunity to gain different experiences from each venue.

Our club colour is gold, which all riders wear proudly, whether just at pony club or competing at State Championship level.

We hold our annual Christmas rally in December, at a new location every year. Usual the morning consists of a trail ride and then santa even visits at lunch! All club members, parents and friends are invited to come along to have a great day.

T.P.R.C. encourages all riders to complete efficiency tests, to help build the riders knowledge and skills over a wide range of theory and pratical areas.

For new Pony Club members, there is a three month introduction period, where riders can attend 3 rallies before deciding whether to join as a member.
